Mele Kalikipolka

When Mele Kalikimaka was written in 1949, it was considered the first popular Hawaiian Christmas song—and now, this clever and humorous arrangement is likely the first Hawaiian Christmas polka! Famously recorded by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters in 1950, the song quickly became a beloved favorite and has since been recorded by countless artists. This arrangement for brass quintet reimagines the song as a light-hearted polka, complete with distinctive syncopated rhythms and a nod to Bavarian beer halls during Oktoberfest and into the holidays. Spice up your next holiday concert with Mele Kalikipolka.
